From a five-star kitchen in India
Gary Bakshi learned his trade at the Maurya Sheraton, a five-star hotel in India, Darpan magazine reported. He went on to cook in restaurants across the United States and Canada before landing in Langley.
He and his wife Anu own An Indian Affair, the original restaurant on Willowbrook Drive. Tourism Langley describes them as a husband-and-wife team and says Gary brings more than 30 years of experience to the menu.
The son takes the new room
The Willoughby bistro is the family's next step. “Today, that legacy continues through his son, who leads An Indian Affair Bistro in Willoughby with fresh vision,” the restaurant's website says.
Darpan named him: Karan Bakshi, working alongside his father as the business grew through its third expansion.

Traditional recipes, healthier twists
Tourism Langley says the family blends traditional Indian recipes with modern, healthy twists. The family's site says the original has earned the title of Best Indian Restaurant multiple times.
The bistro's menu pages run from tandoori and seafood to vegetarian dishes and small plates, with a full drinks list. Catering is part of the business too.
