Why emeralds
The name has a reason behind it. “Just as emeralds are rarer than diamonds, we recognize that each member's journey is unique,” the studio's website says. It likens good wellness to the stone, something “deserving of the utmost care, intention, and expertise.”
You'll find it up one flight in the Fort Professional Building on 96 Avenue in Fort Langley. Big windows fill the room with light, and reviewers bring up the view.

A long-held dream
“Sydney and Taylor are the duo behind The Emerald Club,” the about page says, and it introduces them by first name only. Sydney has spent more than a decade teaching yoga and fitness. “Opening a studio has been a long-held dream,” the site says.
Taylor works mostly behind the scenes. The studio credits him with a “sharp eye for detail” and calls the pair “true partners in crime.” Even the contact page shows the split. Sydney's email takes teacher and media inquiries, while Taylor's covers memberships.
Early members are fans. “Been going since they opened in May and cannot rave about it enough to everyone who will listen!” one member wrote that summer.

A baby on the mat, and plenty more
The schedule is wide. There are Pilates and barre classes, several styles of yoga, and strength and mobility work, with restorative sessions for slower days. Members can book a Functional Movement Assessment, which the studio calls its signature service, to find their strengths and imbalances before building a program.
One class has its own crowd. Mom & Baby: Sculpt & Stretch is led by Paige McColl, whose own daughter comes along. The studio keeps it relaxed: “you can pause to feed, change, or calm your baby at any time.”

Lie back and listen
Sound baths are the quietest thing on the calendar. The Stress Release Sound Bath opens with about 15 minutes of gentle stretching, then you lie back while live instruments play. People usually bring a blanket and a pillow. A longer version pairs a 45-minute gentle yoga class with a 45-minute sound bath, and groups can book private sessions.
The studio trains teachers, too. Its 200-hour yoga teacher training is accredited by Yoga Alliance and split into 10 courses, so students can fit it around work. Graduates can apply for The Emerald Pathway, a mentorship that can lead to teaching at the club.

What members keep saying
One reviewer found the club through a free pop-up class in the park, when her baby was two months old. “They offer the widest range of class options I've ever seen at a studio,” she wrote, after more than 15 years of trying studios around the Lower Mainland.
Others mention the size. “I love that the class sizes are small and the space is bright and clean,” one member wrote, before getting to the owner. “Sydney has created the perfect studio, and Langley is lucky to have it.”
If you're bringing a little one, the studio has one request. “Please keep your stroller in the car.”
