Sun Nov 1: No clock change. BC now stays on Pacific time all year.
Cost: Mostly free. The drive-in is $40 per car plus tax, and the zoo deal is $10 for costumed kids 3 to 17.
Good to know: Times are from each organizer's listing as of Oct 29. Plans change, so check the link before you head out.
Halloween on a Saturday is a gift
Halloween hasn't fallen on a Saturday since 2020. That means no school-night bedtime fights and no racing home from work to carve. Langley's organizers noticed too, and they've spread the fun across three days.
We pulled everything below from the organizers' own pages. If it isn't listed here, we couldn't confirm it.
Friday: start small, finish under the stars
The 4th annual Halloween Stroll takes over Willoughby Town Centre (208 Street and Willoughby Town Centre Drive) from 3:30 to 5 pm on Friday, Oct 30. Look for the stroll posters in shop windows. Those are the businesses handing out treats, according to the Tourism Langley listing.
Then drive over to Willowbrook Shopping Centre for the Halloween Drive-In. The movie, Night of the Zoopocalypse, starts at 7 pm on a 40-foot screen in Parking Lot D, by T&T Supermarket off 197 Street. A car spot costs $40 before tax, and you need a ticket to reserve one. Walk-ins are free if you bring a lawn chair, the event page says. Decorate your trunk and fill it with candy, and you get better parking.
Saturday: the big day
Greater Vancouver Zoo at 5048 264 Street runs Boo at the Zoo from 10 am to 6 pm. Kids and teens aged 3 to 17 who show up in costume get in for $10 plus tax that day only. There's a spooky scavenger hunt, and costume parades step off at 11 am and 2 pm near the front entrance, per the zoo's listing.
Back at Willowbrook (19705 Fraser Highway), trick-or-treating runs 2 to 4 pm. Start at the Concierge Desk. The first 1,000 kids in costume get a free loot bag, and the kids have to be there to collect it, according to the mall's listing.
Want something calmer? The City of Langley Library hosts free trick-or-treating through the stacks from 2:30 to 4:30 pm, with a Halloween selfie wall, the Fraser Valley Regional Library says.
Sunday: your clocks stay put
Don't count on an extra hour of sleep. BC made daylight time permanent this year, so clocks won't go back on Sunday, Nov 1, according to the province's Pacific time page. If an older clock jumps back anyway, set it forward again.
If the pumpkin patch is still calling, our Krause Berry Farms story covers one of the Township's busiest fall farms. Check the farm's own site for Halloween weekend hours first.
Trick-or-treating in your own neighbourhood on Saturday night? Wear something reflective. The sun sets before 6 pm.
