SkyTrain keeps climbing
More than 65% of the guideway on the 16 km Surrey-Langley line is finished, and work is under way at eight future stations, two of them in Langley, the Langley Advance Times reported. The last stop, Langley City Centre Station, will sit at 203 Street and Industrial Avenue.
That work closed part of Industrial Avenue between 201A and 203 Street on Oct 27 and 28. The paper says the area has seen frequent closures over the past year and a half, so expect more.
If the kids had voted
Langley students held their own mock elections through the CIVIX Student Vote program, and the results look different. They would have sent Green candidate Sam Meyer to Victoria for Langley-Walnut Grove. In the Township, students would have kept Eric Woodward as mayor while giving Langley Strong five council seats, the Langley Advance Times reported. In the real vote, Misty van Popta held the riding.
Rivermen open the Surrey series
The Langley Rivermen outshot the Surrey Eagles on Oct 23 but lost 4 to 2 in South Surrey, the paper reported. It was the first of seven meetings this season. Home games are at George Preston Recreation Centre.
