The six off-leash spots

Dogs are welcome in every Township park on a leash. Six parks have areas where they can run free, the Township says: Bertrand Creek, Walnut Grove, Noel Booth, Old Yale, Routley and Yorkson. All of them keep dawn-to-dusk hours, according to the Township's facility listings.

Dusk comes early now. Sunset is before 5:45 pm by the first week of November, so the after-work run is getting tight.

The rules

Dogs aren't allowed on sports fields at all, leash or no leash. Pick up right away, and bag it if there's no dog waste bin. Walnut Grove Community Park and Noel Booth have dedicated bins, the Township's park etiquette page says. Every dog living in the Township also needs a licence.

A bigger run in Aldergrove

Aldergrove Regional Park has an off-leash area in its northeast section, according to Metro Vancouver. Everywhere else in the park, dogs stay leashed and out of Pepin Brook.
