A fire captain with a hobby farm
Axeman.ca's owner fights fires for a living. “I'm Jeremy, a career Fire Captain with over 27 years of service, and a proud parent of five amazing kids,” he writes on the shop's about page.
Jeremy and his family live on Country Oak Acres, a small hobby farm in south Langley “where we have three horses for the kids, along with goats and chickens.” The farm doubles as the shop's testing ground. “Living this way gives us a unique opportunity to use and test the tools we sell every day, ensuring they can withstand real-world conditions.”
His wife, Kate, handles the farm's online following. Jeremy writes that she has turned Country Oak Acres into “something truly special, connecting with millions each month.” He adds: “With over 40 million views, she shares our lifestyle, farm adventures, and love of tools with an incredibly engaged community.”

'Founded by a Woodsman, Not a Warehouse'
The shop's blog tells the founding story in the third person. Jeremy, it says, “couldn't find the kind of forestry and bushcraft tools he trusted—at least not in Canada, and certainly not all in one place.”
Another post is blunter: “Tired of seeing low-quality imports and high markups on premium gear, Jeremy set out to build a carefully curated online store.” The rule for what makes the cut is spelled out too: “His philosophy is simple: if he wouldn't use it in the field, it doesn't belong in the shop.”

Insider highlight
If he wouldn't use it in the field, it doesn't belong in the shop.

Swedish steel and Canada's first Woxna saws
Axeman.ca is an authorized Canadian dealer for Gränsfors Bruk and says it was the first in Canada to carry Woxna saws. The catalogue also includes Hultafors axes, Silky saws and Tormek sharpeners, along with splitting mauls, carving axes, wedges and leather sheaths. Gränsfors axes are hand-forged in Sweden, and the shop notes that each one “bears the initials of its maker.”
The family business pitch is old-fashioned on purpose. “At AXEMAN.ca, we take great pride in the quality tools we sell, paired with old-fashioned customer service,” the site says. “We believe this is something that is truly missing in today's world.”

Photos of the exact axe you'll get
One habit stands out. Ask, and the shop will “send pictures to you of the exact axe we will send you for your approval,” according to its FAQ. A Google reviewer can vouch for it: “Axeman knows his stuff and has picked out two nice axes for me.” The same customer wrote, “Pictures of both were sent for my approval, and I placed my order immediately, shipping is freaky fast!!”
Another reviewer's first order wasn't quite right, and a phone call fixed it: “I got a call and we sorted out exactly what I was looking for.” Reviews like these have earned the shop 5.0 stars from 150 Google reviews.
Most orders ship, and the shop says anything received before 1pm Pacific goes out the same day. If you're local and would rather collect it yourself, the FAQ's answer is friendly but firm: “Sure, but please make an appointment first.” Call or text 604-833-7677 before you head out to the farm.
