'Designer by trade and baker by heart'

Mariana does not run a storefront with a glass case. She runs a home kitchen in Langley where buttercream cakes leave in boxes for birthdays, weddings and the kind of craving that needs a theme.

“Hi, I'm Mariana – designer by trade and baker by heart,” she writes on her Meet the Baker page. “Originally from Mexico, I've been living in Canada for over 15 years.” What began in 2020 “as a simple creative outlet quickly turned into my biggest passion.”

Baked Memories exists because a designer found that cake decorating was where artistry and sweetness meet, and Langley kept ordering.

“Designer by trade and baker by heart.”

Self-taught, then never done learning

She calls herself a self-taught baker with a deep love for design. Custom buttercream cakes and cupcakes came first; decorated sugar cookies followed. “From dessert cups and cookies to loaves of bread and party favors, I'm always exploring, experimenting, and evolving,” she writes.

On Bakesy she adds that she launches orders as a creative outlet and is “always open to special requests,” with booking open into 2026. A 50 percent deposit holds the date; final payment is due before pickup.

Every cake tells a story

Her tagline is literal: “At Baked Memories, every cake tells a story.” Flavours on the FAQ run from chocolate and vanilla to carrot, lemon and orange with berries, plus fillings like dulce de leche, berry compote and Nutella.

She will take inspiration from a photo you send, then add her own twist. “I'm happy to take inspiration from photos you love, but I always add my own creative twist to make it unique and true to my style.”

Reviewers on Bakesy describe the same thing: a German family surprising a daughter on exchange, a mum who ordered last-minute cupcakes, guests asking for Mariana's contact after the candles went out.

Home kitchen, community order book

Pickup details come after the order is confirmed. Local delivery may be available for a fee. She asks for roughly a week on Bakesy and two to three weeks on the FAQ for custom cakes in busy seasons. Last-minute is sometimes possible; she says to ask.

We haven't confirmed which Langley neighbourhood the kitchen sits in beyond what she publishes, and we are not printing the residential street from the master list. Email bakedmemories.bakery@gmail.com or Instagram @_bakedmemories_ is how she wants to be reached.

Book the date before you buy the candles

If you need a cake that looks like a mermaid, a planet or a quiet pink sculpture, send the photo early. Mariana is already dreaming up the next one before the last box leaves the counter.

That is the whole pitch: a designer who taught herself buttercream, and a Langley order book that grew out of a 2020 creative outlet.
